LEAD RESEARCH SPECIALIST – ATHLETICS

Responsible for the development, documentation and communication of research pertaining to sport teams and athletes. Design, implement, direct and manage pilot studies, methods experiments, and related activities to support development of research studies into effective prospective health care services for sports teams and individual athletes. Utilizing understanding of fields to which statistical methods are to be applied to determine whether methods and results are appropriate, design research projects that apply both quantitative and qualitative analytical tools for research into effective health care services for sports teams and individual athletes. Plan different data collection methods for different specific projects and determine the types and sizes of sample groups to be used. Prepare detailed project plans, written reports, and statistical analyses describing findings from research tests. Take lead in and conduct qualitative (e.g., interviewing, focus groups) and quantitative (e.g. statistical analysis, survey design) analysis to assess sport teams’ and athletes’ needs and market trends in health care services. Prepare data for processing by organizing information, checking for accuracy and credibility, and adjusting and weighting raw data; regularly evaluate methods and procedures used to obtain data to ensure validity, applicability, efficiency, and accuracy; evaluate sources of data to determine any limitations in terms of reliability or usability and analyze and interpret data to identify any significant differences in relationships among sources of information, or differences in types of athletics requiring differential treatment. Compile and report results of research and analyses, including information in form of graphs, charts, and tables. Using results of research projects, design and recommend, and participate in implementation of, new services that deliver health care information and services specifically designed for sport teams and individual athletes. Computer process data for statistical modeling and graphic analysis. Support employer marketing and business expansion objectives by developing detailed technical proposals for new services, based on above studies. Prepare presentations for clients and industry groups on topics pertaining to research activities and findings.

Minimum qualifications include Master’s degree or equivalent in Athletics Management, Statistics, Management, Business or related. Bachelor’s plus 5 years’ relevant progressive full-time paid experience accepted as equivalent. Foreign degrees accepted as equivalents.
